How to Find Cheap Flights to Europe

So you want to visit Europe. Well you do not have to spend a fortune on your dream vacation. Flying to Europe can be as inexpensive as flying almost anywhere else if you keep a few tips in mind.

First of all if the time of year is not important to you, try and pick a time that is more off season. You will find flights to Europe much cheaper during the winter months than you will during the summer. If you are concerned about sight seeing during this time don’t. There is actually more to do there during the fall and winter than there is during the summer with all of the wine festivals, and the skiing and so on.

The first stop should always be your local travel agent when you are looking for good cheap flights to Europe. These travel agents work pretty much the same way as the internet travel sites. However your local travel agent can personalize your flight more to your liking. Make sure to compare prices at all of your big travel websites such as Travelocity and Orbitz. You will find that their discounts will usually be much cheaper than what you can get on your own. Remember to have all of your information such as dates and numbers ready so that you can fill in the forms. If you are a student, check with the airlines and see if they have any special student discounts. Almost every city that has a large college will have agencies that are set up just to handle special student discounts. If you are planning on traveling with a group, make sure you ask about group discounts. Most airlines will give group discounts, however, they aren’t going to offer these cheaper prices unless you ask for them.

Another way to get cheap flights to Europe is get with a chartered flight. Now most chartered flights will offer the full package. You will get a hotel, meals, sight seeing trips and more. But, if you are only interested in the flight, they will usually discount the package and you will end up with a cheap flight. You can find these charter agencies in most any city in the world.

When planning your trip look for cheaper flights into other cities or even countries. Traveling within Europe is very inexpensive by train. So if you find, for instance, that it is much cheaper to fly into Amsterdam that to Frankfurt and your final destination is going to be Frankfurt, you can save hundreds of dollars taking the train the rest of the way. Not only will this save you a lot of money, but it will also make the trip a lot more fun. Riding the trains in Europe is not like riding them in the U.S. You will meet some very interesting people and have a great time in the process.

So as you can see, getting cheap flights to Europe is not a difficult task at all. All it takes is a little bit of research and planning.

Cheap Flights

Most cheap flights travellers have faced the occasional moment of clarity when they have questioned their own wisdom in using cheap flights carriers. Those moments often arrive when your flight has just been cancelled or you’ve just been hit with a bill for the 300 grams of excess baggage you had the misfortune to accumulate on your holiday.

There are, in all honesty, no shortage of shortcomings when it comes to the cheap flights industry but there is no question it has revolutionised the planet for countless thousands of ordinary people.

For many living in large or remote countries they would simply never have had the opportunity to visit foreign countries if it weren’t for cheap flights.

And for those living in Europe, the entire region has become a potential long-weekend destination.

The market for long and short distance travel has expanded rapidly since early innovators such as Ryan Air came on the scene in the late 1990s. This brand new demographic of international travellers, while not without their drawbacks, are certainly expanding the tourism opportunities across the globe.

For Australians the entire Asian region has been opened up with a number of cheap flights [http://www.cheapest-flights.com.au] airlines competing with each other to drive prices down.

Local tourism operators in places like the UK have turned out to be some of the biggest losers, however, as they are suddenly competing with Spain, Portugal and Italy for the weekend holidayer market.

Where before the choice for the average English family was a weekend in either Brighton or Portsmouth, now destinations such as Amsterdam, Cairo and Prague are just a cheap flight away. And they are proving irresistible with record numbers of travellers taking up the opportunity to fly internationally each year.

Some good tips for booking cheap flights:

  • Always book ahead: Savings will always be at their maximum if you can book your ticket well in advance.
  • Travel in off-peak times: Travelling during off-peak and shoulder seasons between Autumn and Spring are always cheaper than summer.
  • Don’t be afraid to use a travel agency: Some of these get access to great deals and if you are a first time international traveller they can take some of the heartache out of the experience.
  • Research on the internet: there are many fantastic cheap flights websites out there with access to some great package deals.
  • Safety concerns have arisen in certain regions in recent times – particularly in Asia and Africa. When it comes to air travel, the word “cheap” should never apply to safety. If an airline cannot compete in the marketplace without slashing their safety budget then it should forfeit its right to operate at all. Make sure you check the safety record of your airline.

The girls on their hens night are screaming at the guys on their stag night, the leg room is cramped, the hostess is rude and the departure time came and went before you boarded… but after arrival, as you sit back and soak up the warm foreign sun on distant shores – without having to break the bank – you’ll reflect on just how great cheap flights are.

Cheap flights have changed the world.

Emirates Airlines Launches Madrid Flights

From 1st August 2010, Emirates Airlines will be launching daily non-stop flights to Madrid, which will provide the only scheduled passenger service between Dubai and Spain.

The recent announcement would make the Spanish capital the carrier’s 25th destination in Europe. Madrid has been announced as Emirates’ fourth destination to be announced for 2010 after Tokyo, Amsterdam and Prague.

“The new Madrid route is particularly significant because we will provide the only scheduled passenger service between Dubai and Spain. It will also give passengers out of Spain much easier access to our international hub in Dubai, where they can travel onwards to popular destinations in Asia and the Far East,” Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, said in a statement.

It was reported by the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in the UAE that during 2008, Spanish clothing exports to the UAE were worth Dh428 million, while overall trade was worth more than Dh3.6 billion. And Spain, with a population of more than 45 million, saw nearly 60 million tourists arriving in the country, making Spain a significant destination for world tourism.

The move is great news for both Dubai and Spain, who both seemed to suffer the effects of the global recession.

Cheap Flights to South Africa – Top Tips For Finding Cheap Airfares to & Within South Africa

  • Tip # 1: Make Sure The Airline Consolidators You Consider Have Flights To South Africa In Their Database

First consider using air ticket consolidators to find a cheap airfare to Johannesburg or Cape Town, South Africa’s two international gateways. What are airline consolidators? They are travel wholesalers who buy huge quantities of airline tickets on major airlines like South African Airways, British Airways, Lufthansa, and Air France. All consolidators don’t have contracts with all airlines so make sure the consolidator has a contract with the major airlines that fly to South Africa. Then the air ticket consolidator is in a position to pass on big savings to you. In the UK, consolidators, and the travel agents that they often sell through, are also known as bucket shops. They can save you a lot of money on flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town. Sometimes the savings are up to 70% off the airlines’ published airfares.

  • Tip #2: Check Out South African Airways BUT Be Willing to Travel on the Dominant Airline’s Competition to Get Cheaper Airfares
Second, don’t just look at South African Airways (SAA) flights to your destination but look at other airlines that fly there too. If you want cheap air tickets you must look beyond SAA, which is by far the dominant airline to southern Africa. If you are willing to fly through another airline’s hub airport or city, you increase your chances of finding cheap flights. For example, South African Airways is the dominant airline for flights to Cape Town and Johannesburg from London and the USA. So if you want cheap flights from London or the US to Cape Town or Johannesburg, you might consider British Airways or better yet an airline like KLM or Air France or Emirates. Choosing KLM, Air France or Emirates means that you would have to fly through Amsterdam, Paris or Dubai on your way to Cape Town or Johannesburg. But the savings could be worth it. The same would apply if you wanted cheap flights to or from South Africa to Australia. In this case, taking a good look at Singapore Airlines, with its hub in Singapore, might save you money versus flying directly between South Africa and Australia on Qantas Airways.

  • Tip #3: Consider Flying On Low Cost, No Frills Airlines to Get Cheap Flights Inside the Country
Cheap flights within South Africa often can be found on some of the country’s newer, no frills or low cost airlines. Kulula, Mango, 1 time (one time airlines), and until recently Nationwide, all had cheap flights between South African cities. And, in the case of Comair (which is the local British Airways partner), there are cheap flights to popular destinations in nearby places like Victoria Falls and Mauritius. But the no frills airlines are not always the best bet. Because so much business has been lost by South African Airways to these airlines, the big national carrier has had to fight back. So don’t ignore South African Airways, it can have low airfare deals as well.

High and increasing airline ticket prices to Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa appear to be here to stay. Finding discount airfare to South Africa will continue to be a challenge. Following these tips will help you increase your chances of getting the cheapest airfares.

What to expect from 2010 Cheap Flights to Lagos Nigeria

During the peak season this year, flight prices to Nigeria have gone considerably high. The biggest reason is that unlike Ghana or Zimbabwe, there are very limited connections and airlines that have cheap flights to Lagos. Virgin Nigeria, Airik Airways and British Airways are the only direct carriers where none of these airlines have fares below or even close to 400 GBP. The majority of travelers to Lagos, Nigeria, suffer badly in the ongoing recession where travel has become limited to a certain class and people only.

The effects of recession are visible on the global tourism industry. Where the fuel prices have drop down for the common man, the high octane oil prices and air plane fuel is still on fire. Certain airlines like Belleview even had to seize their operations for a short duration in July by dint of ever increased price and ever decreased purchase power. One recent eye opening and jaw drooping news is the expected Strike by British Airways on December 22, 09. It has been reported that people are stuck at connecting airports and holidays are turning into night mares. A group of students even stated that they were traveling after 2 years, and upon reaching Lombok they were told that the connecting flight is not available. They had no visas for Lombok, couldn’t stay at airport so they had to fly back! It is hard to imagine excitement turning into frustrations, departure becoming returns and unpacking the bags without even getting a chance to wear your best buys …

Let’s here discuss some of the best options, safe and cheap flights to Lagos Nigeria that we can consider while traveling next year 2010:

Iberia Airways: Iberia is a flagship carrier of Spain. Being a Spanish airline it flies via Madrid, although Iberia is not a very popular choice in Europe yet, the airline standards and class of service is mostly complain free. The prices of course, are the cheapest among flights to Nigeria.

Alitalia Airways: Alitalia flies via Milan Italy. It’s a reasonable airline with decent service and affordable fares.

KLM & Air France: Many of us, who do not know that KLM and Air France are operating together at code share basis since 2009, it’s the time to know that it’s the same thing to fly with any of these names any more. So do not worry if your ticket says that you are departing via Amsterdam and returning via Paris. The prices are average but for people traveling with family or kids these airlines are the best pick. The reputation makes these carriers first choice of many European tourists. It also makes these airlines the most readily selling carriers. So if you are interested in Flying with them, advance purchase is a must!

Ethiopian Airways: Ethiopian Airways flies via Addis Ababa. For a long time the airline was in a shadow but since the shortage of availability and high demands of flights with European carriers, Ethiopian Airways have also grabbed some popularity and positive remarks from various frequent travelers to Nigeria.

Virgin Atlantic: Virgin, being a direct carrier and having a steady reputation is the safest option. The prices however, may not be very cheap. Still advance purchase can get you some promotional fares and cheapest flights to Lagos with Virgin Atlantic.

Further, we strongly recommend to always buying schedule failure insurance or airline failure insurances while making reservation for big amounts. These insurances bring you money back guarantee incase if the airline fails to operate, it can be held for the damages. Specially, while flying in peak season, and you are likely to spend more than a thousand pound on each ticket, you must always book with responsible airlines and agencies that are based in UK.
